Some Tips for newbies [list] [li]Telnet to the IP of the box with root and no password[/li] [li]Change Password with passwd[/li] [li]=>now you can use SSH, FTP, ... with root and the password[/li] [li]To reboot the box, either unplug power cord, or from telnet/SSH type reboot -f[/li] [li]It's easy to use a FAT formatted USB key to upgrade, install applications, ... => Keep plugged, it's so much easier[/li] [li]To access a shared USB drive (windows \\IP, the box must be on (not in standby)[/li] [li]You don't need to flash the firmware, if you use the Ext3 Firmware (.bin on USB stick)[/li] [li]=> Using the ext3 firmware you can modify files easily, as they are not in ROM Flash (e.g. [url=http://wdtvforum.com/main/index.php?topic=3818.0]http://wdtvforum.com/main/index.php?topic=3818.0[/url] ), but you need to have already a customerbrew firmware flashed first ![/li] [/list]
